Acceptable Use Policy
Effective Date: March 27, 2026
Last Updated: March 27, 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is part of our Terms of Service. By using DocSift, you agree to comply with this policy.
We built DocSift for professionals who need to process and understand documents. We want to keep the platform safe, legal, and useful for everyone.
Prohibited Content
You may not upload, process, or store the following types of content on DocSift:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors. We have zero tolerance for this. Violations will be reported to law enforcement immediately.
- Stolen or illegally obtained documents. You must have the legal right to possess and process every document you upload.
- Documents uploaded with intent to harm the individuals named in them. DocSift is a professional tool, not a weapon.
- Malicious files designed to attack or exploit our systems, our AI providers, or other users.
Prohibited Behavior
You may not:
- Circumvent usage limits — create multiple free accounts to avoid plan limits, use automation to bypass rate limiting, or otherwise attempt to access more resources than your plan allows.
- Reverse-engineer the Service — decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code or AI prompts used by DocSift.
- Interfere with the Service — overload, disrupt, or degrade the performance of DocSift for other users.
- Scrape or bulk-extract content from DocSift using automated tools.
- Resell access to your DocSift account or use DocSift to provide a competing service.
- Violate any applicable law in your jurisdiction while using DocSift.
Not Designed For
DocSift is not designed for, and we make no guarantees about suitability for, the following use cases:
- HIPAA-regulated medical records. DocSift is not HIPAA-compliant. We do not sign Business Associate Agreements. Healthcare professionals should assess their own regulatory obligations. See our Terms of Service Section 7.
- Documents subject to court orders or legal holds. We perform hard deletes and cannot guarantee document preservation for litigation or regulatory purposes.
- Classified or government-restricted documents. We have no government security clearance and do not meet government security standards.
- Documents requiring forensic chain-of-custody integrity. We do not provide forensic-grade document handling or tamper-evident storage.
Important:We do not block uploads of legal, medical, financial, or insurance documents — these are core to our target use case. However, you are responsible for determining whether your specific use of DocSift meets your industry's regulatory requirements.
Enforcement
If we determine that you have violated this policy, we may:
- Issue a warning
- Temporarily suspend your account
- Permanently terminate your account
- Report illegal activity to law enforcement
We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action, except in cases involving illegal content, imminent harm, or ongoing service disruption.
